Avslutad utställning Karolina K Eriksson
27 aug till 13 sep 2011
With her depth of
experience in ceramics, Karolina
before this exhibition allowed her
search and sketching in different materials. This in turn has contributed to some
new material combinations, but mainly gave new insights into her work with
clay. The exhibition will show new sides of Karolina. Her well-known technique
of working with sewn moulds are included to some extent but now work being
built, thrown, cast and slumped. Being shown, the work is entirely sculptural,
even if there are associations to function,
"The challenge is to allow oneself to balance on a tightrope, between knowledge and the exploratory and experimental." Says Karolina K Eriksson.
Karolina K Eriksson's work
is characterized by a constant search for new expressions, an absolute
precision and creativity. She developed the technique of sewing cloth forms
that serve as both the mould and a filter cloth to her organic creations. The
process of drawing shapes, sewing them into the fabric and filling them with
clay slip, has made her very well known and established.
Karolina K Eriksson has studied at the Konstfack/University College of Art, Crafts and Design in Stockholm and Bergen National Academy of the Arts. Karolina has had several solo and group exhibitions in Sweden and internationally. She has been the recipient of several awards in recent years and is represented at the Röhsska Museum, and Gustavsberg's Porcelain Museum.
The exhibition period is from 27/8-13/9 2011.
